Well we left yesterday morning bright and early at 5:30am. This huge stretch limo pulls up in the driveway and we jump in like we are some type of celebrities or something. All I could think was how disappointed the people at the Newark, airport would be when they stopped to see if it was someone famous getting out, and it was just us fumbling with our baby and tons of suitcases we had to have to survive in Hawaii.
The first leg of our trip wasn't all that bad. It was 3 and a half hours to Houston. Caden was a cutie, and everyone complimented him on how great his behavior was as we were getting off the flight. He drank his bottle as we were taking off and landing, so no issues with ears popping or anyting of the sort. When we got to Houston we were really short on time. We fed the boy and tried to scarf some food down ourselves only to be immediately called to the gate for boarding. As fate would have it the little man had a complete blow out minutes before we were boarding, which included an outfit change. The only good part about that was he did it before we got on the plane.
Then we boarded for our 8 hour flight. Ed and I were together in the middle seats and my mom was a few rows back. This poor woman that sat to the left of me was refusing to switch seats with my mom at first, despite my polite asking/begging, but luckily the flight wasn't full and she was able to sit with her son and my mom could sit with us.
To make 8 hours really short... Caden slept, then played, the whined, the screamed, then walked with his Daddy, watched Wonder Pets, smiled at the people beside us, peed a thousands times requiring numerous diapers changes, yelled some more, ate a tiny bit, fell asleep twice, and was told he was cute when we got off the plane, and given a "you did pretty dog gone good little man" by the elderly gentleman that sat beside. All in all I think he was a rockstar, but I will never fly this far again for a long, long time.
Once we arrived we grabbed our rental car, which is a pretty cool red four door wrangler and headed to our hotel. The little guy crashed in the car and then went down for the night shortly after we checked in. Mommy was close behind, followed a short time later by Mi-Mi and Daddy.
He did get up from about 3am-5am this morning, but went back to bed afterwards. Our fingers are crossed that by some miracle we may have adjusted to the time change in one day, but only time will tell.
