Hawaii Day 6

Yet another day in Hawaii and again the weather did not disappoint.  We had a few showers on an off, but nothing significant and each was followed by a rainbow.  How can you complain about that?  We didn't swim today, but just hung around the room and hotel area because we thought Daddy was going to be done with work at 1pm, then we thought it was 3pm, but unfortunately he ended up getting home at regular time.  No offense Daddy but we're swimming tomorrow whether you work 2 hours or 20.

Playing with the washing machine in his jammies. Perfect way to start the day.

This morning we decided to go for a walk early, around 7:30am.  Ed was already off to work, so my mom and I grabbed two Chai Lattes (they were delicious), and headed out for a walk on the beach.  Proving yet again how perfect he is, Caden fell asleep during the walk allowing us to relax on the beach for a goo 30 minutes.  It really was the perfect start to the morning.

Then we headed back to our room, but the cleaning ladies where there so we hung out in the lobby for a little.  Nothing like hanging out with a 9 month old on a single chair with two toys for 20 minutes.  Hawaii is amazing, don't get me wrong, but some parts of it can also be exhausting.

Then we finally got back into the room and we let the midget go.  Watch out world.. he's on the move.

Notice.. there is a puffs container stuck between his legs.  He crawled the whole way around the room like that.  Silly boy!

Yes.. he pulled himself up like this all on his own.

Caden continuously crawls to the appliances and see his reflection in them.  Today he found a baby in the dishwasher that looked a lot like him, so he decided to give that cute little boy some kisses.

Or he's just licking the dishwasher and I'm trying to make it look cute rather than crazy.  You decide.

Caught in the act today.. this is what we see 5,000 times a day.  We do love it though!

Headed out for an afternoon walk.  Yes, he did get a lot of looks and comments with this get up on.

This is what the Hawaiian's call an "Aloha" shirt.  We learned only tourists call it a Hawaiian shirt.

Tonight:  For those of you that know me, (or my father), we both have a store that we call "hell on earth."  You guessed it, that store would be Wal-Mart.  Despite our sincere hatred for this venue we still both frequent it from time to time, but only in dire situations.  Well tonight was one of those dire situations.  We were getting low on food, baby food, baby wipes, etc. so we decided to make a quick trip to see what a Hawaiian Wal-Mart was like.  Silly for us to think that just because we are in Paradise that a Wal-Mart here may be more enjoyable.  WRONG!  First we got lost in 5'oclock traffic in Honolulu, which is comparable to NYC on a Friday night. No lie, it's bad!  Caden was tired and screaming in the back seat, and when we found Wal-Mart it was in a high rise with Sam's club on top of it and basically housed within a parking garage. (It's hard to explain).
Anyway- we walk in and I immediately give a 30 minute time limit. My mom and I check out the cute Hawaiian clothes and plan on getting the groceries and Caden and Ed go to the toys.  30 minutes flys by and of course we haven't even made it to the food.  We should have taken that as a sign and just fled the building.  It was the most packed, busy, multi-ethinic and mulit- lingual experience I have ever had.  All we wanted was a frozen pizza, some coffee, cereal, etc. and it was seriously the most painful situation I've been in since ummmm... flying with a 9 month old 5 days ago. They seriously had hardly any of the food that we needed and everything was either Japapnese food or Hawaiian bar-b-que food.  Even the little restaurant that is usually a McDonald's at any other Wal-Mart was a Hawaiian Bar-b-que here.
Luckily we survived the entire situation, found our car in the odd parking garage after riding an elevator with shopping car (weird, I know), lugging a sleeping boy and 20 bags of groceries to our hotel room and eating our microwaved meat loaf.  Yes people, Hawaii is paradise but after 5 days here the tolls of survival and saving a little bit of money kick in and even the lucky travelers that we are have to endure a few harships.... like Wal-Mart.

Hawaii Day 6= When in Hawaii.....avoid Wal-Mart at all costs!!
