And We're Home...

I know we've been home for a few days, but the 14 days of blogging and the exhausting travels home have kept me from writing for a few days.  Oh yeah, and going back to school and the fact that Caden is still on Hawaii time weighed in a little too.  In a nutshell here is the run down of our hellacious ride home.

We had to check out of our hotel at 12:30 so we wouldn't be charged for an additional night despite the fact that our flight didn't leave until 8:30pm.  We spent some time in the arrival depature lounge of the hotel trying to get Caden to take a nap.  After an hour of his screaming and disrupting everyone else trying to relax in there, we scooped him up and plopped his chubby little butt in his car seat where he crashed out within 30 seconds.  We then decided to just drive around the island in the Jeep that made me car sick all week long.  Excellent idea, right?

Then we headed to the airport around 5 only to be confronted immediately with a delayed flight that was now leaving at 9:45.  We were unable to check in because the computers thought we would miss our connecting flight.  A kind woman who initially appeared competent first pulled Ed off of that flight and re-scheduled our flights.  Unfortunately the only flights that were available were ones that either had a 4 hour lay over in Houston or weren't leaving LAX until 3pm Monday afternoon.  Our initially competent woman then realized she screwed up and that we could make the connection and needed to now get Ed back onto our flight that she booted him off of that was over booked.  ISANITY!

After sitting in the airport for four hours, we fought and fought for Caden to fall asleep before we boarded our flight and he just wouldn't give in.  I guess he's stubborn like his Mommy.  Then literally two seconds before we boarded Caden crashed out and slept the entire 5 and a half hours to LAX.  We got tired of holding him at one point, so we put him on the trays in front of us and he slept the majority of the flight there.  He woke up for a few seconds as he frantically ran to our connecting flight in LAX, but quickly crashed out again and was only up for an hour of the last flight. He was definitely a stud!

We all crashed out in the limo on the way home and were just utterly exhausted.   Caden seems to be ready to wake up and play when we're ready to go to bed since we've been home and Ed and I still feel like we are in a fog.  We have suitcases strewn all over the house and things missing right and left, including the camera cord to upload pictures to this boring text only blog.  Not to mention I started my first day of school with the students this morning.  My parents were still here and Aunt Susan came over to see the boy and Daddy too.   Caden was in his glory!

All is well now and we have an exhausted boy who crashed out before 7 tonight and skirted getting a tubby because of his exhausted meltdown.  Ed and I did go to check on him after he stopped crying and had fallen asleep in an indian style position leaning forward with his head on his hands.  It was the cutest thing ever until the dog started barking and Ed and I had to hit the deck and hide under the crib so he wouldn't see us.  Literally our crazy lives included my husband and I hiding under the crib tonight giggling our heads off.  Fingers crossed that Caden decides to get back on East coast time and we get a good night's sleep for the first time in half a month.

As the insane Kate Gosselin says.... It's a crazy life, but it's our life!
