Serenity Now

This blog has had many titles as I've been waiting to write it for a long time. Some of the other options were Gas Sucks, Pain, Pain Go Away, I Quit, and the ever popular Mr. Squeakers.

If you didn't figure it out already this entire post will be about poor Little Jackson's belly.  Since his first week here at home we have been struggling with trying to keep Jackson comfortable.  After he drinks each of his bottles, which amount to nine or ten a day, he squirms, squeals, pulls his legs up, arches his back, turns red in the face, and cries in pain for 10 minutes to an hour after every feeding.

We have tried: Motrin, gas drops, gripe water, colic calm, Maalox, and he was put on prescription Zantac as well.  We have done bicycle legs with his until we are blue in the face, bounced him, burped him for hours, laid him on his belly, etc. etc etc.  The only mild form of relief he has is if we put a little tummies belt on that is homeopathic and warmed in the microwave, prop him up and put him in the swing.

We've spoken to two different doctors many times and they recommended the Maalox, then prescribed the Zantac and told us we had to keep him at a 45 degree angle for 15-30 minutes after every feeding.  Still after all of this NO RELIEF!  Finally on Thursday a different doctor decided to put him on Soy formula.  Yes that is our fourth formula in six weeks.  So far we have seen minor results and we are hoping it continues to get better each day.

I cannot even begin to explain how difficult this has been for Ed, Caden and I.  Ed and I are constantly burping, elevating, administering medicine, and poor little Caden is always waiting patiently for us to be done dealing with his brother.   We are honestly hoping that with time Jackson grows out of this and when we look back at his early days we don't remember any of these trying times and just remember Jackson as the sweet little boy who does his best not to cry when his belly hurts and just deals with it.

So to every person that may read this that has not received a return email, has listened to my answering machine time and time again, and is still waiting for me to call you back.  I'm sorry.. now you now what I've been up to. :(
** This is how we found Jackson tonight while we were eating dinner.
Poor little guy honestly lives in this swing.**
