The boys danced to the music, sat in fire trucks, police cars, watched race cars go by, and high fived each other till they were both ready to fall asleep right there. The adults in the group enjoyed the soft pretzels, italian ice, hot dogs, fresh squeezed lemonade, grilled cheese, and more. (Yes, we did eat all that!) It was a perfect thing to do with two little boys.
When we got home I tried my hardest to get Caden to take a nap, but he was having nothing to do with it. He knew Ed was putting his new swing set together in the backyard, and insisted that he needed to help. Being the fantastic father that he is, Ed let me grab a nap and took Caden (his little apprentice), and built an awesome new swingset that we can't wait to play with more tomorrow.
Today was a great day!!
Look at him staring at Ed. You know he's thinking, Dad, what the hell am I wearing here?
Getting ready to drive the fire truck.
Dancing to the music with his buddy Cole.
Can you tell who was more excited, Daddy or Caden?
Poor Rhonda, Cole would throw his hat on the ground and Caden must have picked it up and given it back to her 5,000 times. At this point Caden and Cole decided to explore the back of a police cruiser. We quickly told them this was the first and last time they were EVER to be in the back of a police car together. :)
Caden loved this silly pink straw and the fresh squeezed lemonade. Maybe all the sugar in it had something to do with not napping today.
Yet another firetruck.
This race car was VERY loud. They were announcing it as it was leaving and Caden set off in a dead sprint to go see it. I was so surprised that he wasn't scared of any of the horns or sirens. He did come home this afternoon and start saying "Uh-Oh" and "Konk Konk" (for honk honk). This crane or tow truck thing had the bus literally on it's side. It was pretty cool.
High Fiving till their little hearts were content.
THEN... it was swingset time!!
Caden and I just ate snacks and blew bubbles while Daddy worked.
Testing out his new toys.
Almost finished....
At 6pm tonight Caden was beat. I mean all out crocodile tears while putting his jammies on, crying so hard he almost threw up exhaustion. Ed decided they needed to have a dance party/wrestling match/ a little bit of crazy time to cheer him up before bed. Mommy on the other hand sat her fat, pregnant butt on the couch and snapped some pictures because she was so tired she was ready to shed some crocodile tears herself. Looking at his favorite thing, our digital frame.
Wrestle Mania..... and to think we're adding more testosterone in this house in four short months. Wow!!
And here is the finished (almost) swingset. Lets hope this provides hours upon hours of fun times to come.
