Jackson

I realized I haven't written about the boys lately, and with sissy's arrival quickly approaching I figured I better give these boys some attention.

Jackson will be two and a half this month.  He is still the energetic, silly, fun loving, character that he has always been.  He absolutely loves his brother (most of the time) and wants to do anything Caden is doing.  If Caden is sitting on the arm of the couch; Jackson has to do it too.  Jackson checks at each meal to make sure whatever is on Caden's plate is also on his plate.  Jackson however, is a much better eater than Caden.  He will try most anything.  Gyro's with cucumber sauce, spaghetti with meat, chicken with brie and apples, you name it, he'll try it.

Jackson is still obsessed with Thomas the Train.  Everyday he goes to the playroom and carries the pieces from his train table to the living room floor and sets up elaborate tracks throughout the living room.  He loves his marble set and will build that over and over again.  He is a whiz at puzzles and has started to love having books read to him.

Jackson is VERY strong willed and will do what he wants when he wants.  He has found himself on time out a lot lately for throwing things, hitting us when we tell him no and screaming back at us.  I think this is totally age appropriate though, and as soon as he gets reprimanded he gives us a pouty face that absolutely melts you.  Jackson has absolutely no fear and will come flying down the stairs on his belly at a frightening pace.  He loves his taggies at night and requires much less sleep than Caden.  He naps less and is always up first in the morning.

Jackson will watch some TV, but would much rather be building something, doing a puzzle, or just being nosy and running around the house to see what everyone is doing. He is a complete whiz with the iphone and the Kindle fire.  He can navigate it better than any of us in the house. Jackson can sometimes be a total nudge.  He will say my name over and over and over again.  By the time Ed is done working for the day I usually have started to ignore Jackson, not because I don't love him or wouldn't do anything for him.... I just have come to realize that he has inherited my love of talking.  Oy Vey are we in trouble!!

Jackson is quite the charmer though.  He can totally work a crowd, win you over with a sweet little smile, or rub your cheek and give you a kiss if he thinks you are upset.  He is very in tune to how others are feeling and on a daily basis asks about "issy" (sissy).
He is still struggling with his speech.  He recently was evaluated and identified with an expressive language delay. We started his first session with a private speech therapist last week and he seems to really enjoy going.  We call it "school" instead of speech therapy and he is very proud to be a big boy going to school.

Jackson is very interested in my belly and "sissy."  He is intrigued by all of the things we are getting ready for her and has only tried to steal her pacifier a few times.  I think he is going to be my big helper and really enjoy the role of big brother.  I cannot wait to see how he reacts to having her around.

We love Jackson to pieces.  He is our sweet little baby (for a few more days), and he successfully has Daddy wrapped around his finger, and Mommy sometimes too. He makes us laugh throughout the day and we find ourselves looking at him all the time and saying how sweet he is.  Then he comes over and smacks us, and we realize... that's Jackson!!
