Weekend in Damascus.... and more!!

This past weekend we took a 3 hour trip to stay with friends and family in a beautiful home in Damascus, PA.  We had an awesome time celebrating Aunt Dee-Dee's (Kate) 30th Birthday.  Here are the adventures of a get-a-way weekend with a 3 month old.

The trip started out great.  We were expecting our normal expert traveler who sleeps for 3 straight hours in the car.... little did we know that traveler no longer exits.

Still cute...

Mommy is all smiles (we have only been in the car 2 minutes at this point)

Starting to fuss a little so we went right to the bottle.

Too bad a bottle turns into a milkshake which is quickly brought back up when you are bouncing in the backseat of a bouncing truck on the Parkway.

Caden not happy + Mom and Dad not happy = A quick stop at a gas station

After a complete outfit change, diaper change and quick bottle everyone is happy and we are back on the road.

Happy Baby = Happy Parents

Finally we arrive at the beautiful house (just imagine a ton of snow in this picture)

We definitely arrive in style.

Ma-Ma and Pop-Pop were very excited to see their boy

Ma-Ma's trademark when changing diapers... we think it's very funny!

Hanging out with Uncle Toby

Caden loves his Aunt Nicki

More love from Ma-Ma

The Birthday Couple.. Aunt Dee-Dee and Craig stumped by the brain teasers.

Early morning with Daddy

The sun is barely up, but this little guy was wide awake.

Caden lovingly woke up his Aunt Nicki first

And then his Uncle Toby who were both good sports about waking up early.

Standing around waiting for the coffee.
(I do think we all freaked out just a little when we realized the coffee pot was broken.)

Mark and Nora making everyone a delicious breakfast.

It's a shame this boy doesn't get any attention.

Scottie and Joni were getting extra practice in for their little man who is due to arrive on May 19th.
Look at them.. they're both naturals!!

Sisterly Love

Picture on the Balcony.. what a view!

Nothing better then hanging out with your closest friends and family on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Yes, you guessed it.. there's a little guy in that giant tub.

He loved swimming in that huge tub.

He also loved the heated bathroom floor.  Let's be honest, we all loved it.

Bedtime bottle with Daddy in front of the fireplace.

The main reason for the weekend.. to wish our Kate a very happy 30th Birthday!!
We love you Aunt Dee-Dee <3

Tired little boy asleep under the coffee table.

Time to head home... and this trip went much smoother.  Maybe our expert traveler is still in there somwhere.
BACK HOME AGAIN...

We were welcome home by my Aunt Liz and Uncle Dave, and Dave's sister Cindy.
I wonder if they were excited to see the boy??

Cindy meets Caden for the first time...he is embarrassed about being fussy.

This picture was taken Tuesday morning. The poor, clueless baby had no idea his day would soon be turned upside down with two terrible shots in each of his chubby little legs.  Sorry Buddy... we have to do it!

Ok Mommy.. what's going on??

The aftermath of the shots.

Caden did a great job at the doctor's once again today.  He is now 12lbs. 12oz. and 24in. long.  He has moved up to the 50th percentile for both height and weight.  Ed is very proud that the doctor's exact quote was "He's awesome."  We think so too, but it's very re-assuring to have a trained professional tell us that.  Truth be told Caden did scream his head off when he got his shots.  Luckily I couldn't see his face, so I was for once the strong one.  Ed on the other hand got a straight shot of the crocodile tears and the sad lip.  I'll have to remind Caden that this is his kryptonite against Daddy when he wants to stay up late or eat cookies for dinner.
We love you Caden and are proud of how brave you were today!!

  1. Love these pics! My favorites are the "post-shot" pics - he looked so troubled as he slept - quit stressing my baby boy out! Seriously, he is the handsomest guy ever! Juliana is going to be a lucky girl.
